Christmas Tree Berry Pavlova
This delightful dessert combines the lightness of meringue with the freshness of seasonal berries, all beautifully arranged to resemble a Christmas tree.
- 4 large egg whites (at room temperature)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Assorted berries (such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries for decorating)
- Mint leaves for garnish
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean, dry mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar, a spoonful at a time, while continuing to beat the egg whites. Beat until stiff, glossy peaks form.
- Sprinkle the cornstarch over the meringue mixture, then add the white vinegar and vanilla extract. Gently fold them in until fully incorporated.
- Spoon the meringue mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a Christmas tree shape with a flat top and slightly wider base. Use a spatula to create furrowed lines resembling tree branches.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the meringue is crisp and dry on the outside. Turn off the oven and leave the meringue inside to cool completely, with the oven door slightly ajar.
- Once the meringue has cooled, carefully transfer it to a serving platter or cake stand.
- Just before serving, spread whipped cream over the top of the meringue in a tree-like pattern.
- Decorate the pavlova with assorted berries, arranging them to resemble Christmas lights and ornaments. Add mint leaves as garnish.
- Dust the pavlova with powdered sugar for a snowy effect.
- Make sure your mixing bowl and beaters are clean and free from any grease, as any traces of fat can prevent the egg whites from reaching their full volume.
- You can prepare the meringue base in advance and store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 day before assembling and decorating.
- Feel free to customize your pavlova by adding other toppings such as sliced kiwi, pomegranate seeds, or edible glitter for extra sparkle.
Impress your guests and spread holiday cheer with this stunning Christmas Tree Berry Pavlova. With its crisp meringue base, fluffy whipped cream topping, and vibrant berry decorations, it’s sure to be the star of your festive dessert table.
